Reading for my mental health and what I read in November

The last couple of months I have been in a little bit of a reading slump.  I hit my target of 60 books to read on Good Reads and then I just found myself not reading as much. The reading slump has also coincided with my mental health not being at its best.  I have found myself getting lower and lower and thus the pages being read has got fewer.  I think a lot of it has to do with my concentration.  When I'm like this, I find my mind wandering and I Have a short attention span.  I get impatient so reading long books becomes abit of a chore.  I find , instead of reading , I prefer to just watch television or movies.  It is my way of unwinding. However,  I love to read and I know reading is good for me, so even though I may not read loads I still pursue, knowing that at anytime, I will start to feel better again.  Reading is good for my mental health. Nigel Slater

I have many cookbooks and love watching cookery programmes. When it comes to Autumn and Winter there is no better cook than the wonderful Nigel Slater. To me, he is pure comfort and warmth. I love the simplicity and Hygeeness of his recipes. He is a delight.  He is also a fantastic writer and the way he describes food is pure joy. This year I have purchased The Christmas Chronicles.  Part journal notes, anecdotes and recipes, it starts in November and ends the beginning of February. My plan is to read each daily entry each day starting today.  I even might try some of the recipes throughout the seasons.

Happy November

November is here already.  Where has the time gone? Wishing you all a special time in November and happy readings. Love Lesley xxx
